A print shop finisher performs the final steps of the printing process, such as cutting, folding, binding, stapling, clear coating and/ or sewing to prepare printed materials for delivery. This role involves operating machinery, performing manual assembly, and conducting quality checks to ensure the final product meets specifications and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Operating and maintaining machinery:
Setting up, operating, and performing routine maintenance on equipment like folders, cutters, heat welders, and/sewing machines.
- Performing finishing processes:
Executing tasks such as cutting, folding, trimming, sorting, grommet, sewing and/or heat welding printed materials to assemble final products
- Quality control:
Inspecting work in progress and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, are free of defects, and are correctly finished.
- Material handling:
Moving materials and finished goods, loading machines with material, and manually assembling or finishing materials.
- Troubleshooting:
Identifying and resolving issues with equipment or the finishing process.
- Collaboration:
Working with other team members to manage workflow, prioritize jobs, and solve problems.
